How Long Does It Take For Yoast SEO Changes To Take Effect?

Let’s be honest, SEO is already way too complicated for most people. And there’s no way around it. The main reason why it is complicated is to avoid people taking advantage of search engines and have low quality websites rank on the 1st page.

But more experienced people know that SEO doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact, they teach their clients some of the tricks so that they can make some changes themselves and see good results. And that leads me to the topic I want to talk about in this article – managing WordPress and Yoast SEO.

Yoast SEO is an important plugin to have on your website. I would go as far as to say that it is one of THE MOST IMPORTANT plugins that you should install if you care about SEO even a little bit.

But before I dive into how you should setup Yoast SEO, let’s talk a little bit about what you should look in an SEO plugin so that you are choosing the right one.

What Should You Look For In An SEO Plugin?

I’ll keep this short and simple – you want to make sure that any SEO plugin that you are installing has a guide on how you can use it.

Most plugins out there, I’ve noticed that they:

1. Don’t have a guide on how to get started

2. They don’t have a good customer support service

3. They break other parts of your theme or design

Yes. I know that sounds horrible but that’s what I’ve seen when I was testing out different plugins while researching for this article. So you can really only choose between 2 SEO plugins – All In One SEO or Yoast SEO.

I know it sounds weird and you might ask – I understand that these are the best SEO plugins but don’t you have any other recommendations at all?

I would recommend if I thought they were even halfway decent. The thing is, most SEO plugins out there are just not up to the mark. There’s no other way of saying this.

From my perspective, it’s all about getting your on page optimization done as quickly as possible so you can move on to other aspects of SEO.

I know SEO takes time and it’s easy to slack off. But once you get things rolling, you really won’t have enough time to dedicate to each website. So you will want to have things to be as efficient as possible.

And part of making sure that things are efficient, is making sure that they work exactly as you expect them to. That way, you are not wasting your time searching for solutions for unexpected problems when you should really be getting things done.

Imagine if you have 10 really important projects to work on. And you are super-focused and trying to make sure that every projects gets an equal amount of focus and attention from you. And in the middle of all the hard work you’re putting in, the header of your website starts showing some weird code when you visit it.

You spend 30mins figuring out why it is doing that and you can’t find a solution. So you decide to leave it as it is and move on to another task. But you put a note in your to-do list to get back to it later.

And then your web developer messages you saying that the code was showing because of the SEO plugin that you just installed. So you just wasted 30mins of your time when you could have used that time to move on to another task. And you also ended up stressing out about it which really not a good thing.

That’s the reason why we want to make sure that every plugin and every tool we use works exactly how we expect it to.

What Changes Can You Make With Yoast SEO Plugin

With Yoast you can pretty much change anything that has SEO importance to it. That’s the best part about it.

Nabil Ansari recommends that you only change these 5 things with Yoast:

1. Title

2. Meta Description

3. H1 tags

4. Improve your article quality by checking their Readability score

5. Schema

These are the main things that you should be focusing on when it comes to Yoast. Everything else, you can leave it as it is and it won’t make a huge difference.

The best part about this plugin is that you can set a focus keyword for a page and then it tracks whether or not you have included that keyword in all the important parts of your page. Places like the title tag, H1 tag, meta description, etc.

So you really can’t go wrong with on page optimization when using this plugin.

How Long Will It Take For You To See the Results

Let’s say that you change your title & H tags, and your meta description and optimized your pages for the keywords that you’re targeting.

Now what?

How long will it take for your website to start seeing results?

Well, it depends on the competition of the keywords you are targeting, how old your website is and what is the quality of the backlinks going to your website. There’s a lot of factors that go into seeing results but the one’s I mentioned are the most important ones.

Let’s say that your website is already doing well in search engines and you have a good backlink profile. For you to see results, it might only take 2-3 days or maybe a week maximum.

But let’s say that your website is brand new and it doesn’t have any backlinks going to it. In that case, you might not even see any results if you are targeting a moderately competitive keyword.
